Random group generator for a class
Paste the class list, choose a number of groups or a target group size, and generate a randomized assignment. Students are distributed round-robin after a secure shuffle, so group sizes differ by no more than one. The list stays in this browser and can be reused by the name picker and seating chart.

Balanced groups from one shuffle
Students are shuffled with the browser's cryptographic random source, then dealt round-robin. Choose a number of groups or a target group size; either way, sizes differ by no more than one. The list format matches the name picker and seating chart, so you do not retype names between tools.
Saving is optional
Save the list in this browser if you want it available to the fair name picker and classroom seating chart. Deleting the saved list takes one click and does not contact a server.
Random once is fair. Random every week is not
A single shuffle treats every student equally on the day it runs. Repeated across a term it does not, because independent shuffles will keep putting the same two students together and keep some pairs apart entirely, and the class notices before the teacher does. If grouping matters over a term, keep the previous grouping in front of you and re-run until the overlap looks acceptable, or rotate deliberately instead of randomizing. This tool shuffles one list one time; the term is yours to plan.
Questions
What does Classroom mode do?
Classroom mode hides site chrome, enlarges the result, and switches to a high-contrast board for a classroom display. It also removes every advertising slot from the DOM so a projected class never loads an ad. Escape or Exit classroom mode returns to the normal page.
Are student names uploaded?
No. The tools run in this tab. Benchvale does not receive the list, and the network gate fails if a school tool starts transmitting it.
When is a list saved?
Only when you select Save in this browser. Typing or opening a shared link does not save anything automatically.
Where does the remainder go?
A class rarely divides evenly, so some groups end up one larger. This tool distributes round-robin after the shuffle, so which groups get the extra place falls out of the deal order rather than being something you choose. If it matters who is in the larger group, read the output before you read it out, and re-run if the placement is wrong for the lesson.
Can I remove the saved list?
Yes. Select Delete saved list. This removes the shared school-tool list from local storage immediately. The group generator and seating chart use the same stored list when you choose to save one.
